Name

The name of this corporation shall be Florida’s Heartland REDI, Inc., hereinafter known as FHREDI, a corporation not-for-profit, incorporated under provisions contained in Chapter 617 of the Florida Statutes and Section 501 (c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.

Purpose

The corporation is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under Chapter 617, Florida Statutes, and shall be operated as a not-for-profit corporation in a manner which is consistent with the requirements of Chapter 617, Florida Statutes, and Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended from time to time, for the purpose of coordinating and furthering economic development within the geographic region that includes the counties of DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Okeechobee and the communities of Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Immokalee.

Objectives

(A)  To assist counties and communities within the region in the accomplishment of their respective economic development goals.

(B)  To engage in economic development activities to attract new business and industry, support retention and expansion of business and industry, and increase and retain employment within the region.

(C) To encourage and coordinate cooperative efforts for marketing, research, and database development within the region.

(D) To promote the corporation’s objectives and goals through public awareness programs to gain support for economic development within the region in such a manner that the unique quality of life inherent to this rural area of Florida’s Heartland is maintained and enhanced.

Enhance Regional partnerships to support economic development by creating and supporting regional plans for business expansion and retention, housing, transportation, and education.
